Dr.-Leo-Ricker-Stiftung
The Dr.-Leo-Ricker-Stiftung provides funding to financially disadvantaged doctoral candidates of the University of Freiburg who exhibit great diligence in their studies. The foundation does not take ideological criteria into account in the selection process. For further information in German, click here.

Evonik-Stiftung
This foundation offers scholarships for doctoral students and postdocs who cannot finance their research on their own or thought the aid of parents or other family members and who are no longer eligible for government financial aid. The scholarships are awarded yearly, each year with a different focus. For further information in German, follow this link.

FAZIT-Stiftung
The Fazit-Stiftung offers scholarships to doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers of all disciplines affiliated with a higher education institution (also for completing a PhD already in progress). The foundation gives priority to applicants who are experiencing financial difficulties and who are thus in special need of financial support to complete their degree. German Environmental Foundation
This foundation provides scholarships to doctoral candidates of all disciplines who are performing advanced research in the area of environmental protection. Further information is available here.

Stiftung Bildung und Wissenschaft
The Stiftung Bildung und Wissenschaft provides funding without regard to nationality, ideological conviction, or religious affiliation. However, it only awards scholarships to students who have no other option to receive funding from public or private sources.
