Christoph Dornier Stiftung
Since its founding in 1989, the Christoph-Dornier-Stiftung has awarded doctoral scholarships to PhD students in psychology whose previous academic achievements give reason to believe that they will complete an above-average dissertation of high scientific value in the area of clinical psychology. Gerda Henkel Foundation
The Gerda Henkel Foundation funds research in all historically oriented fields of the humanities, particularly history, archaeology, art history, and the various sub-fields of historical studies. The foundation is active both in Germany and abroad. The aim of its doctoral scholarship program is to promote highly qualified early stage researchers. Applicants must provide evidence of high aptitude through previous grades and examinations and present a project which may be expected to lead to a dissertation which is well above average. Gertrud und Alexander Böhlig-Stiftung
This foundation offers doctoral and postdoctoral scholarships for projects on the languages and cultures of the Christian Orient, particularly for work on Gnosticism and Manichaeism as well as on the influence of Greek and Jewish culture on the eastern half of the Roman Empire and its successor states. Letter-Stiftung
The Letter-Stiftung awards the August Hoff Scholarship for Research in Art History for research projects on artists and topics from art history. The foundation prefers applications for projects related to its main areas of emphasis: sculpture between 1780 and 1930 and printmaking from 1875 to 1930. The duration of the scholarship may vary depending on how much time the recipient needs to complete the research project and publish the results. Further information in German is available here.

Deutsche Telekom Stiftung
The Deutsche Telekom Stiftung offers scholarships for especially gifted and hard-working doctoral candidates in the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science, and engineering. It is not possible to apply for a scholarship as an individual student. Rather, candidates must be recommended by the administrators of selected universities. Further information is available here .

Evonik-Stiftung: Werner-Schwarze-Stipendium
The Evonik-Stiftung awards the Werner Schwarze Scholarship to doctoral candidates working on a dissertation concerning current topics in amino acid research. For more information in German, click here .

Fonds der Chemischen Industrie
The endowment fund of the German chemical industry offers scholarships for doctoral students in chemistry and neighboring fields. The application must be submitted by the candidate’s dissertation supervisor. The main prerequisites for receiving a scholarship are a course of study completed within a short period of time and outstanding academic achievements. Richard-Winter-Stiftung
The Richard-Winter-Stiftung promotes research and teaching in the natural sciences. The foundation offers doctoral scholarships to gifted students in the natural sciences who have no other means of funding their dissertation work. Further information in German is available here

Schering Foundation
This foundation helps gifted young researchers take their first steps on the way to an academic career. It awards scholarships to outstanding doctoral candidates who wish to conduct basic research in biology, medicine, or chemistry at a renowned research institute in Germany or abroad. Water Scholarship from the Wasserchemische Gesellschaft
The Water Scholarship is awarded to excellent doctoral candidates in hydrochemistry and related fields. The application must be submitted by the candidate’s dissertation supervisor. For more information in German, click here

Reiner Lemoine Stiftung
The Reiner Lemoine Stiftung funds scholarship and research in the area of renewable energy. In addition, it also supports education and development aid involving renewable energy. More information on the foundation’s doctoral scholarships may be found here .

Alexander von Humboldt Foundation – International Climate Protection Fellowships
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation awards fellowships to enable future leaders of non-European emerging or developing countries to conduct a research project of their choice on climate protection or resource conservation during a one-year stay at a research institution in Germany. In addition to natural scientists and engineers, researchers engaged in the legal, economic, and societal aspects of climate change are encouraged to apply for the program. Bayer-Stipendien
The Bayer Foundations provide funding for study projects, internships, summer courses, postgraduate and complementary courses of study, theses, and dissertation projects in the fields of biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, biological process engineering, chemistry, chemical engineering, pharmacy, physics, and statistics/biometry. Der Stipendienfonds E.ON Ruhrgas
The Stipendienfonds E.ON Ruhrgas is a non-profit foundation and supports scholarship and research in Europe with special emphasis on academic exchange between Germany and Norway. Norwegian and German undergraduates, graduates, and researchers can apply for a scholarship in the areas of economics, political science, and law. Further information in German is available here

Leo Baeck Fellowship Programm
The Leo Baeck Fellowship Program is targeted at doctoral candidates from around the world who are working on a dissertation in the area of German-Jewish history. The fellowships enable recipients to conduct research in Germany or abroad for one year. The program also promotes exchange with other early stage researchers in this area. Upon completion of the one-year Leo Baeck Fellowship Program, recipients from higher education institutions in Germany can apply for continued funding from the National German Academic Foundation.
